The Language of the Body
The body has its own language but we are not still enough to listen. It speaks through the color of our urine, the marks on our fingernails, the thirst we feel, the dryness of our skin.
In massage, the therapist wades through the layers of muscle to find the pain built over time. Like chipping away at stone we patiently speak to the muscle with our hands, hoping to send a signal of trust.
Tension takes time to build and it takes time for a therapist to reduce. The time, cost and energy to restore a body is an effort that frustrates many. Today’s demand for instant gratification goes against nature. The body is a reflection of the natural and nature takes time. It is slow and its healing long lasting.
For those that have learned the language of the body, to be still and listen, can capture a problem early and make the time to fix it. The next trip to Disney can wait, the next bulk order of needless items from Amazon.com can be placed on a standstill.
Learn the language of the body: the protrusion of the eyes, the acne on your skin, the lack of energy, the pain you feel. The body is not your enemy, it has a vested interest in staying alive and well but cannot get very far without your help.
